Guacamelee! Review

Guacamelee! is a fantastic change of pace for players who want to add some beat ’em up spice to their non-linear platforming.

Gun Crazy is structurally incoherent and a visual mess. I can’t recommend it at any price.

Though its purported goal of representing real history is mostly a gimmick, Wulverblade is a solid and bloody beat ’em up.

Airoheart is too inexpertly crafted to be enjoyable.

If there’s a reason to play Curse of the Sea Rats, it’s for the phenomenal quality of its animation.

Despite the transformative addition of coop multiplayer, Cat Quest II is more a refinement to its predecessor than an evolution.

Quest’s plain levels are a bore to navigate and its initially-clever combat systems soon mistake complexity for depth.

Squad 51 vs. the Flying Saucers is a visual and aesthetic treat and I recommend it for those reasons—and only for those reasons.

Dyadic is at its best when it is played as it is intended: by two players, sitting side-by-side, grasping a single controller between them.

Elderand is competent but does little to subvert my expectations or upset my complacency.
